Vol. 248 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - EEC Tariff Barrier.

13.

asked the Minister for External Affairs what effect the Kennedy Round has had on the EEC tariff barrier.

It is estimated that, under the Kennedy Round Agreement, the EEC's common customs tariff on most industrial goods is being reduced on average by between 35 per cent and 40 per cent. The timetable for the agreed reductions is: two-fifths on 1st July, 1968, and one-fifth each on 1st January, 1970, 1971 and 1972.
