Vol. 248 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo-Leitrim House Loans.

85.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider the extension of loan facilities to many young couples who have failed to secure houses in Sligo and other towns in Sligo-Leitrim and who would build their own houses if such loans were given.

House purchase loan schemes are operated by Sligo Corporation and by Sligo and Leitrim County Councils. Loans to eligible applicants under these schemes may amount to 95 per cent of the value of a house as determined by the local authority—or 99 per cent in the case of a local authority tenant surrendering his tenancy—subject to a maximum in any case of £2,700.
