Vol. 249 No. 11

Ceisteanna — Questions Oral Answers. - Kinsale Bridge.

63.

asked the Minister for Local Government when sanction will be given for the provision of a new bridge at Kinsale, County Cork, in respect of which documents have been lodged.

Cork County Council have been informed that the plans for the proposed new bridge at Kinsale are in order subject to changes in some minor details. The consent of the Minister for Transport and Power to the construction of the bridge is also required.

In view of the dangerous condition of the bridge in use at the moment and in view of the long delay since these documents were sent to the Department, would the Minister consider the urgency of this question?

Yes, this is very urgent and we are dealing with it in that way. It involves the consent of the Department of Transport and Power as well. They are also concerned because it is a navigable river.
