Vol. 251 No. 11

Written Answer. - Rural Electrification.

69.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the names of the rural areas in County Meath and that part of Kildare within the Meath-Kildare Constituency which are scheduled for recanvassing under the ESB post development scheme; the approximate time it will take to complete the work; and the names of the additional rural areas, if any, that will be taken into the scheme during the financial year 1971-72.

I am informed by the ESB that work under the rural electrification post development scheme is in progress at present in the Liscarton and Dunderry rural areas in County Meath. It is hoped to have work completed in these two areas before the end of March.

The following rural areas of County Meath await development under the post development scheme—Moylough, Oldcastle, Kildalkey, Ballivor, Grangegeeth, Rathkenny, Slane, Nobber, Moynalty and Lislin. The board hope to carry out work in the order given but, because the level of demand in each area will not be known until construction work is about to begin, it is not possible at this stage to say when any particular area will be reached. However, it is expected that work will be completed in all these areas by the end of March, 1972.

The rural areas in that part of County Kildare, which is in the Meath constituency, have already been developed under the rural electrification post development scheme.
