Vol. 253 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing of Defence Forces.

80.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of new houses built for serving members of the Defence Forces in the years 1968, 1969 and 1970; and if any such building is taking place at present.

The total number was six which were completed in 1969. There are no houses being built at present.

81.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of army personnel who are entitled to army houses but are living in local authority dwellings at present.

Army personnel have no entitlement to married quarters. The records kept by my Department of the addresses of Army personnel not in occupation of married quarters do not indicate whether they are living in local authority dwellings and it would involve a disproportionate amount of labour to establish the numbers who are.
