Vol. 253 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Telephone Service.

120.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the appalling state of the telephone service in the Midleton area, County Cork, and what action he proposes to take to improve the service.

I am aware that the Midleton automatic exchange is overloaded at times during the busy periods of the day. The necessary additional exchange equipment which was ordered two years ago is in course of installation and will it is expected be ready for service in about two months time. Additional trunk circuits to Cork which are also in course of installation are expected to be completed by the end of July.

I should like to raise the subject of Question No. 109 at some stage.

At this stage it is too late to raise the matter today.

I do not intend to raise it today but at a later stage.

There are certain times at which the Deputy must give notice.

I am not raising the matter this evening. Will the Chair accept it for a later stage?

The Chair may not accept it. There are set times laid down in Standing Orders for notices such as this and the Chair must abide by the Standing Orders.
