Vol. 253 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

102.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of each county in Ireland the number of proposals for water and sewerage schemes awaiting sanction in his Department; the total amount involved in each scheme; the dates on which proposals were received in his Department; and when he expects to sanction the various proposals.

The compilation of this information would involve an altogether inordinate amount of time and research which, I feel, would not be warranted.

103.

asked the Minister for Local Government the position regarding the proposed group water scheme at Liss, Headford, County Galway.

The question of supplying this scheme by way of a connection from the Headford public scheme will be considered by Galway County Council when improvement works, now in progress, have been completed.

104.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in sanctioning the extension of Knockroghery water scheme, the proposal for which was sent to his Department by Roscommon County Council on 9th December 1969; and when it is proposed to sanction this extension which will provide a supply for Corboley and Scregg.

Consideration of this proposal must be deferred pending the submission by the local authority of reconsidered views on certain technical aspects which were requested by my Department on 1st May 1970.

105.

asked the Minister for Local Government why Kerry County Council disconnected the public water tap at the Pier Cross, Kenmare, County Kerry, which was used extensively by locals and tourists; and if arrangements will be made to have the amenity restored.

I understand that this water supply was disconnected temporarily to curb wastage and that the local authority have now restored the supply.

106.

asked the Minister for Local Government when a water and sewerage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Longford.

This work will shortly be inspected and, if it is found to be completed satisfactorily, the grant will be paid without delay.

107.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the sewerage scheme for Kinnity, County Offaly.

108.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he will sanction the amended proposals for Kinnity sewerage scheme which were recently submitted by Offaly County Council.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 107 and 108 together.

Contract documents for the modified scheme which were received in my Department on the 14th April, 1971, are under examination and a decision will issue as soon as practicable.

109.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether arrangements will be made for the improvement and extension of the sewerage system in Kenmare, County Kerry, to cater for the increasing demand.

This is a matter in which the local authority concerned must take the initiative. No proposals are before my Department for the improvement or extension of the Kenmare sewerage system.
