Vol. 254 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Housing.

50.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of each year from 1961-62 for Tipperary SR County Council (a) the number of local authority houses built, (b) the number of private houses built, (c) the total number of houses built, (d) the expenditure on new houses from borrowing, (e) the expenditure on new houses from revenue and (f) the total expenditure on housing.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

NOTES:—

(1) Private dwellings completed in 1970/71 include dwellings built in the functional areas of Cashel, Carrick-on-Suir, Clonmel and Tipperary Urban District Councils.

(2) The figures in column (4) are for expenditure on the building of local authority dwellings, the making of new-house purchase loans and the acquisition of land for housing. They do not include expenditure on State or supplementary grants.

(3) The figures in column (5) are for expenditure on the making of new-house supplementary grants. In the case of Tipperary (S.R.) County Council, these grants are financed from revenue. Separate figures for the amounts expended on the grants in the years prior to 1968/69 are not available.

(4) The figures in column (6) comprise capital and current expenditure on new and existing housing, after allowing for receipts from loan repayments by borrowers, rents and purchase annuities, etc.
