Vol. 254 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork School.

31.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in carrying out the extensions to Macroom technical school, County Cork.

I am at present looking into the whole question of the post-primary facilities to be provided in Macroom. Until such time as this question has been decided permission cannot be given to any one school authority to proceed on their own by way of a new building.

Mobile prefabricated classrooms will be provided to meet any additional accommodation required in the coming school year.

Is the Minister aware that this application has been with his Department for a number of months and would he expedite the matter while the holidays are on? The conditions in the school are very bad.

I have explained that, so far as the coming school year is concerned, we will provide mobile prefabricated classrooms if additional accommodation is needed.
