asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in respect of the Midleton Garda district, County Cork (a) the area covered, (b) the population, (c) the number of gardaí and (d) the number of patrol cars; if he is aware of public disquiet at the increase in crime in the area; and what action he proposes to take in the matter.

The particulars are as follows: (a) 121,286 acres; (b) 22,519 (1966 census); (c) 35; (d) 2.

While there has been an increase in crime in the Midleton district, in common with other districts, the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána is not aware that it hat, given riseto public disquiet. He considers that the district is being adequately policed.
