Vol. 257 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Departmental Amalgamation Plans.

1.

asked the Taoiseach whether a decision has been taken to amalgamate the Departments of Lands and Agriculture and Fisheries.

Has this matter been considered?

For how long has it been under consideration?

This, together with other matters arising from the Devlin Commission, are being considered carefully before decisions are reached by the Government.

Has the Government listened to the views of the Minister for Lands on the matter?

Of course. The views of the Minister for Lands are part of the Government's thinking.

Is amalgamation anticipated?

I do not think I would go so far as to anticipate publicly something that would in time be a firm decision.

Dissent means unity now.
