Vol. 257 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Postal and Telephone Facilities.

148.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide (a) a letter box at Anaharlick Bridge, Enniskeane, County Cork and (b) a public telephone at Shinnagh Creamery, Dunmanway, County Cork.

Provision of a letterbox at the place mentioned at (a) would not be warranted. Provision of a kiosk at the location mentioned at (b), where there is no post office, is not envisaged under the extended kiosk programme for rural areas.

Is the Minister aware that the nearest telephone is situated a long distance away from the area in question and that the creamery there would be anxious to get a public telephone? There is a private phone in a house there but people do not want to use it and I would ask the Minister to look into this matter.
