Vol. 260 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes. Clonakilty Regional Water Supply.

36.

asked the Minister for Local Government if an application has been received from Cork County Council for a loan of £70,000 from the local loans fund to finance an extension of Clonakilty regional water supply to Owenahincha.

An application for approval to the raising of this loan has been received but consideration of the matter would be premature until a tender for the scheme has been sub mitted and examined.

37.

asked the Minister for Local Government if an application has been received from Cork County Council for a loan of £36,000 to provide a water supply to Cape Clear Island.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government if an application has been received from Cork County Council for a loan of £30,000 to provide a water supply to Sherkin Island.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 37 and 38 together.

I have recently sanctioned the loans to finance these two schemes.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position in regard to the proposed group water scheme at Knockanemore, Ovens, County Cork.

As indicated in my reply to Question No. 160 on 25th November, 1971, a design for this scheme, which will serve 30 houses by way of an extension of the county council mains, was approved subject to the use of increased pipe sizes to enable it to be integrated into the regional network. Some further modifications have been found necessary so that the scheme can be incorporated into the public network. The council are prepared to contribute towards the extra cost involved and the group has been advised to seek quotations for the work on the revised basis.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction a loan of £4,000 for the provision of a piped sewer and septic tank at Ballineen, County Cork.

The county council have been asked to submit particulars of the proposed work so that their proposal can be considered.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received any proposals to sanction a sewerage scheme at Tower, County Cork; and, if so, if he will state the present position in the matter.

Proposals for this scheme are under consideration in my Department. In the absence of any indication from the local authority as to the priority they would propose to give to this scheme, I am not in a position to say when a decision thereon may issue.
