Vol. 260 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Comprehensive School Student Subsidy.

10.

asked the Minister for Education further to his reply to a previous Parliamentary question concerning the estimated average State subsidy for various categories of pupils, if any current figures are available for pupils attending comprehensive schools.

The estimated average subsidy from public funds for 1971-72 in respect of a comprehensive school student was £151 in respect of current expenditure. Because of the fact that many of the building projects relating to comprehensive schools were either completed or in the course of completion during that year the capital expenditure in the year related to the number of students was £329 per student.
