Vol. 261 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - UN Peace-Keeping Force.

100.

asked the Minister for Defence whether any request has been received by the Government for an increase in the Irish Army United Nations peace-keeping contingent in Cyprus in view of the decision to keep UN troops in Cyprus for a further six-month period; if it is intended to increase the troop commitment there; and, if not, why.

No such request has been received. The question of a small increase in the strength of the contingent has however been taken up with the United Nations Secretariat.
