Vol. 261 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Living Accommodation.

101.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has any proposals to improve or extend the living quarters of Army personnel at the Curragh Camp.

It is proposed to have 50 houses built at the Curragh Camp for married soldiers during the present financial year. The current programme for improving accommodation at various military barracks also provides for the reconstruction and modernisation of some of the married quarters at Connolly Barracks and the improvement of some billets, there and in Plunkett Barracks, by dividing them into cubicles and installing central heating.

102.

asked the Minister for Defence if work has yet commenced on the dormitory at Devoy Barracks, Naas, County Kildare.

A contract has been placed for two prefabricated dormitory buildings. These buildings are due to be completed by mid-August and it is expected that erection will commence very shortly.
