Vol. 261 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

113.

asked the Minister for Local Government why the group water scheme for Ballydasoon, County Waterford, has been cancelled; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am not aware of any proposals for a group water supply scheme for Ballydasoon. However, as I informed the Deputy on the 24th February, the local authority's proposals for a public scheme to serve the area were approved by me in October last and I understand that work on the scheme is well advanced.

114.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which proposals were first submitted to his Department by Tipperary (South Riding) County Council for sanction for the implementation of the Ardfinnan regional piped water scheme; whether sanction will now be granted; if so, how much money will be made available for the purpose; and when the work will commence.

I take it the Deputy is referring to the current water supply scheme designed to serve the Ardfinnan area, in respect of which the Tipperary (South Riding) County Council submitted a preliminary report to my Department on 29th December, 1971. The council were informed on 9th May, 1972, that I had approved the preparation of contract documents for the scheme.

The question of finance does not arise at this stage and I cannot say when work is likely to commence.

115.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in the Boreen Bocht group scheme, Cashel, County Tipperary.

I am not aware of any undue delay in dealing with this proposal. Eleven grants have recently been allocated and work on the scheme should commence shortly.

116.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position of the mid-Kerry water scheme.

I have recently formally approved the Kerry County Council's revised proposals for this scheme.

117.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposed group water scheme at Caherlistrane, County Galway.

A suitable source for this scheme has not yet been located.

118.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposed group water scheme at Lavally, Tuam, County Galway.

This area is included in the Brackloon group water supply scheme, the design for which was approved recently. The group are now being advised to seek quotations for the work.

119.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in laying the sewerage system to the old group cottage scheme in Stealroe, Killorglin, County Kerry; and when the scheme will be carried out.

There are no proposals before my Department for such a scheme, but I understand that the county council have the matter under consideration.

120.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has yet sanctioned the application of Meath County Council to advertise for tenders for a sewerage scheme at Mornington, County Meath.

Contract documents for this scheme are at present the subject of technical discussions between my Department and the local authority.

121.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is proposed to commence the new sewerage scheme for Abbeyleix, County Laois, in view of the present unsatisfactory state of the existing scheme in the town.

I have recently formally approved the contract documents for this scheme and it is now open to the local authority to invite tenders for the work.

I cannot, however, forecast when work is likely to commence.
