asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he now has any figures available on live weight gains of the various cattle breeds and crosses including those new breeds recently imported; and if he will make any such results available.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cattle Breeds Comparison Trials.
80.
As I indicated in reply to the Deputy's questions on 25th November, 1971, and 22nd June, 1971, comparison trials with some cattle breeds and breed crosses have been held by the Agricultural Institute and the results showing live weight gain figures have been published in scientific journals and annual reports of the institute. In the case of the more recently imported breeds, figures based on trials in this country are not available but if trials held in other countries are taken into account, comparative ratings for live weight gain based on the various breed crosses would be estimated as follows:
Charolais and Fleckvieh |

South Devon |
98 |
Hereford |
95 |
Limousin |
93 |
Friesian |
