Vol. 262 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leitrim Vocational School.

19.

asked the Minister for Education if he will indicate when the building of a metalwork and woodwork room in the vocational school, Ballinamore, County Leitrim will commence as there is an urgent need for such a room in view of the fact that there are two engineering factories in the town.

Approval is being conveyed to the chief executive officer to complete preparation of contract documents and to invite tenders for the extension of Ballinamore Vocational School. It is hoped that work will commence in the present year. The extension will include provision for a metalwork room and a woodwork room.

Approval was given for this work in 1968 and pressure was put on the Department several times. Senator Reynolds who comes form Ballinamore town and the vocational education committee have been continually pressing to have this work proceeded with. I would remind the Minister that it is urgently necessary that this work be proceeded with.

I have already pointed out to the Deputy what the position is.
