Vol. 262 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Labour Court Hearings.

9.

asked the Minister for Labour the average period between the making of a request for a hearing of a dispute before the Labour Court and the actual hearing; the steps being taken to ensure more expeditious hearings of disputes with a view to avoiding hardship to the parties involved and unnecessary disorganisation of industry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Wide variations in time occur between the dates on which requests are received for court hearings and the dates on which the actual hearings take place. In the circumstances it would not be meaningful to quote an average figure. If the Deputy lets me have information on any case of hardship caused to parties involved in disputes through delays in hearings by the court, I shall take the matter up with the court.
