Vol. 263 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Army Accommodation.

165.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has made any arrangement whereby Kildare County Council can purchase a site on the Curragh Greenlands for the purpose of erecting houses for retired Army personnel who are overholding living quarters in the Curragh Camp.

In May, 1972, my Department offered to sell a site on the Curragh Greenlands to Kildare County Council for the purpose of erecting houses in the allocation of which overholders of married quarters at the Curragh Training Camp would receive priority. The council did not, however, accept the offer of the site in question but requested an alternative site.

The request by the council is under active consideration in my Department and I hope to be in touch with them in the matter in the near future.

166.

asked the Minister for Defence if any correspondence has been received from Donegal County Council proposing that negotiations should take place with a view to cooperation between his Department and the county council in providing houses for military personnel stationed at Rockhill, Letterkenny, County Donegal.

My Department has received no communication from Donegal County Council concerning the matter mentioned by the Deputy.
