Vol. 265 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Personal Taxation.

88.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will provide that some portion of the benefits of higher export food prices is transferred to industrial workers in the form of reduced personal taxation in order to help them to meet the resultant rising living costs.

It is assumed that the Deputy has in mind increases in the income tax personal allowances.

The question of increased income tax allowances is primarily a budgetary matter and the Deputy will appreciate that I cannot, at this stage, give an indication of what measures my forthcoming budget statement may or may not contain.
