Vol. 265 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Development of Shannon Navigation.

136.

asked the Minister for Finance if the priorities for the development of Shannon navigation have been agreed with the boat owners; and, if so, if he will indicate the priorities for the coming year.

Mr. Kenny

I presume that the boat owners referred to by the Deputy are the hire boat operators represented by the Irish Boat Rental Association. At a recent meeting the association was made aware of development and maintenance proposals for the River Shannon for the coming financial year. These proposals include additional landing facilities at Mountshannon, County Clare; Rossmore and Portumna, County Galway; Cloondra, County Longford; Albert Lock, Hudson Bay and Roosky, County Roscommon; Victoria Lock, County Offaly; and Athlone.
