Vol. 265 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Estates.

16.

asked the Minister for Lands if the George Rigg estate near Hollymount, County Mayo, is to be divided this year; and if he will give details of any other lands to be divided or rearranged arising out of the distribution of that estate.

Composite resale proposals have been formulated for this holding and for the Rattigan and McHugh holdings which have been acquired by the Land Commission in the same locality. The aggregate area is 98 acres.

It is hoped that a scheme of allotment and rearrangement, involving a total area of 117 acres, will be put into operation this spring.

17.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to divide the Keaveney estate at Rathroeen, Ballina, County Mayo.

18.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the McAndrew estate and the Molloy estate at Rathroeen, Ballina, County Mayo, will be acquired by the Land Commission.

(Cavan): With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 17 and 18 together. Composite resale proposals are envisaged for the three estates mentioned all of which have now been acquired by the Land Commission. Possession of the McAndrew and Molloy estates passed to the Land Commission on 27th March, 1973, and 9th April, 1973, respectively.

The aim is to include the aggregate area of 107 acres in the current year's allocation programme.

19.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to divide the King estate at Cloonmore, Claremorris, County Mayo.

(Cavan): Preparation of proposals for the division of these lands must await the outcome of the acquisition proceedings. An objection by the owner was disallowed in June last and negotiations on price are now in progress.
