Vol. 265 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Schemes.

11.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which he received application from Galway County Council for sanction to provide water connections to houses while work progresses on the water scheme at Kilkerrin, Carna; and when sanction will be issued.

This proposal was received in my Department on the 6th April, 1973. I shall give my decision on it shortly.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position of the Roovesbridge, Coachford group water supply scheme, County Cork.

While the design of the scheme is generally in order, an issue has arisen as to the use of increased pipe sizes—to facilitate further development in the area—and the making of a special contribution by the county council to meet the additional cost involved. Pending the settlement of this issue with the county council, the group have been advised to seek quotations for the necessary materials and the carrying out of the work so that firm costings may be determined.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the proposed water scheme to Ballybride, Conna, County Cork, will be implemented.

While the provision of a water supply for the Ballybride area is included in Cork County Council's proposals for the Conna region, the county council have given a low priority to the provision by way of a public system of water throughout that region.
