Vol. 267 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork School.

89.

asked the Minister for Education the immediate plans the Government have to relieve overcrowding of the vocational school in Cobh; and if any progress has been made on the proposed community school plan for Cobh, County Cork.

Mr. R. Burke

My Department is prepared to sanction the supply of mobile prefabricated classrooms to meet the immediate accommodation requirements in Cobh Vocational School. The reorganisation of schools in Cobh is still under discussion with the school authorities concerned.

Could I have an assurance from the Minister that in view of the delicate situation there at the moment nothing long-term will be done without full consultation with the people involved?

Mr. R. Burke

Deputy Hegarty has already been in touch with me about this matter. I can give him an assurance that no long-term decision will be made without adequate and full consultation with all private and public interests involved.

Including Deputy Liam Ahern?

Mr. R. Burke

Including Deputy Liam Ahern and any other Deputy in the area who may wish to get in touch with me.
