asked the Minister for Finance if he has any proposals to appoint farmers, trade unionists, established leaders of business enterprise and former members of the board to the board of the Irish Sugar Company.

There are representatives of the farming community, the trade unions and business enterprises on the board. These and other interests will be considered whenever new appointments to the board come to be made.

Is the Minister planning any change on the board?

When vacancies arise on the board, consideration will be given to replacing them.

When are vacancies likely to arise?

I do not know.
