Vol. 268 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Feeding Compound Prices.

9.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the fall in the price of soya bean meal since July, he has taken any action to reduce the price of feeding compounds; and if he is resisting any price increases which the compounders may have before the Prices Advisory Commission.

10.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will consider reducing the price increases granted to compounders of dairy feeding stuffs and pig rations in view of the fact that the prices of these products have been declining on world markets during the last week.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 9 and 10 together.

For the current feeding stuff price review in respect of the quarter commencing 1st November, 1973, the National Prices Commission will be examining the costs of the compounders in detail. It may be taken that if the commission's examination reveals any cost reductions to compounders, these will be taken into account in their recommendation to me.
