Vol. 269 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Driving Hazards.

25.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has any proposals to reduce the driving hazard caused by some heavy vehicles in wet road conditions when the amount of filth thrown up in the direction of drivers meeting them or attempting to pass them makes driving almost intolerable.

The Road Traffic (Construction, Equipment and Use of Vehicles) Regulations provide that road vehicles must have adequate wings or other means to counteract the splashing effect on the wheels.

Are those regulations being adhered to?

The Garda have been taking the necessary steps——

Has the Deputy got them on his car?

——to ensure that they are. Does Deputy Lalor say he has not got them on his car?

I did not say that.

If he likes I will arrange for a garda to inspect it this evening and see what he can do.

It is like something the Minister would do.

He would collect a great many Deputies and Senators.
