Vol. 270 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Commission Correspondence.

41.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will explain why the Land Commission failed to reply to letters dated 7th March and 6th August, 1973, from a person in County Mayo (name supplied).

(Cavan): Prior to the dates mentioned, it had been explained to this correspondent that the Land Commission could take no useful action in regard to his problem which, they suggested, should be settled by himself and other tenants concerned. His letter of 7th March, 1973, was an acknowledgement of this position and did not appear to call for a reply from the Land Commission.

He subsequently wrote to the Land Commission on 6th August, 1973, asking whether his letter of 7th March, 1973, had been received. As the Deputy is aware, land division activities in County Mayo give rise to a very large volume of correspondence and, unfortunately, the letter of 6th August, 1973, referred to in the question was overlooked.

I am asking the Land Commission to communicate with the correspondent now.
