Vol. 271 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Bread.

154.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the probable price of the small loaf of bread on 1st April, 1974.

I do not consider it desirable to attempt to anticipate any decisions that may be taken about the price of any particular product or to predict the future prices of specific commodities.

Is the Minister aware of reports in the newspapers that there will possibly be redundancies if the small loaf price is not increased? Is there any truth in those statements?

That would have nothing to do with the question asked.

It has. The question asks about price, and if the price does not employ the people, it does not employ the people.

I have nothing to add.
