Vol. 272 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Peace Keeping Force.

14.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is satisfied with the conditions under which the Irish contingent with the UNEF in the Middle East is operating; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The conditions under which the Irish contingent with UNEF in the Middle East is operating are generally satisfactory. I am keeping the situation under constant review to ensure that all supplies of equipment and material necessary to the health and well-being of our troops are made available. I have also arranged for payment of increased allowances for the purchase locally of items such as mineral waters which are in great demand due to the extreme heat in the mission area.
