Vol. 272 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Carlow Improvement Grants.

86.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the fact that Carlow County Council have applications for local improvements scheme grants to an amount of almost £50,000, he will increase the grant allocation of £3,750 for the current year to a more realistic figure.

The allocation to Carlow County Council represents their proportionate share of the total provision for the scheme for the nine months period to 31st December, 1974. As the available provision has already been fully allocated, any increase in the allocation to one county could only come at a later stage from underspending by other counties. I cannot at present say whether any such savings will occur.
