Vol. 273 No. 5

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois-Offaly Industries.

49.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will indicate the amounts and the sources of any EEC grants paid to date in respect of industry in Laois-Offaly.

No payments have been made to date from any EEC source in respect of industry in Laois-Offaly.

50.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will reconsider his decision in regard to the continued designation of Clara, County Offaly as an area for industrial development in the light of the facts made available by the county development officer and the county manager.

From information supplied to me by the Industrial Development Authority regarding present employment in Clara, together with employment expected from further projects now being negotiated, I consider that industrial development in the town is proceeding satisfactorily, and that continued designation is not warranted.
