Vol. 274 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fisheries Minister.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if he will consider appointing a Minister with sole responsibility for Fisheries.

The answer is in the negative.

Would the Taoiseach agree that this function is one which would require the full-time attention either of a Minister or a Parliamentary Secretary?

It has the full-time attention of the Parliamentary Secretary.

Is the Taoiseach aware that today the Parliamentary Secretary is attending a meeting of Cork County Council?

He would not be the first to do that.

I wonder whether the Taoiseach has given any consideration to a suggestion I made some time ago, that was, that forestry, fisheries and conservation would make a homogeneous ministry or would the Taoiseach give consideration to that idea?

Certainly, I will consider it.
