Vol. 276 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Merchandise Marks Acts.

5.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is now in a position to proceed with the setting up of small claims courts, such as those in the USA, or local county courts, such as those in the UK, to adjudicate on consumer cases in so far as matters relating to weights and measures and the Merchandise Marks Acts are concerned.

I am interested in the possibilities of some improved form of redress for consumers, but I do not propose to take any decision until I have considered the report of the National Consumer Advisory Council which I received yesterday.
