Vol. 276 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - St. Enda's (Dublin) Restoration.

141.

asked the Minister for Finance the present position regarding restoration work at St. Enda's, Rathfarnham, Dublin.

Mr. Kenny

The plans and other documents for stage two of the restoration of St. Enda's are now complete. The programming of the work, which will have to be tackled in phases, is at present under examination and it is hoped to invite tenders shortly for the first phase, that is, work on the main building.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say what allocation he has for next year in the Book of Estimates?

Mr. Kenny

I did not see the Book of Estimates but all the documents for the remainder of the scheme are now completed and the cost will be in the region of £260,000. It is proposed to tackle the work in a number of phases beginning with the renovation of the structure and the interior of the principal rooms in the main house. This phase could cost in the region of £50,000 and a provision for £40,000 has been made in the Estimate for 1975.

I suppose this will do the roof?

Mr. Kenny

I suppose so. I am not certain.
