Vol. 276 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Architect Qualifications Recognition.

9.

asked the Minister for Education if any progress has been made in having Irish qualifications for the profession of architecture recognised by EEC member states.

Mr. R. Burke

The Commission submitted proposals to council for directives on the attainment of freedom of establishment and freedom to provide services in respect of activities in the technical field and on the mutual recognition of diplomas in architecture. A working party has been set up to examine these proposals before they are submitted to the Council of Ministers.

Does the Minister make any distinction between the two schools of architecture in this country when he is applying for mutual recognition of the diploma?

Mr. R. Burke

No.

Has the Minister come to any conclusion about the school of architecture in Bolton Street in view of the general study of third level education?

Mr. R. Burke

The decisions when arrived at will be published as a total package by the Government in a White Paper. In advance of that I would not like to say.
