Vol. 276 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Murder Rate.

34.

asked the Minister for Justice the increase in the murder rate in Dublin in the year ended 31st March, 1974 as compared with the previous year.

(Cavan): The number of murders committed in Dublin in the year ended 31st March, 1974, was 10, and the number in the year ended 31st March, 1973, was six.

Can the Minister say if there is any obvious reason for this increase? Was it a sudden raid, or what?

(Cavan): No, there does not seem to be any particular reason. For example, the victims of the bombing outrages in May are not included.
