Vol. 276 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Guard Dogs.

35.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has reconsidered his attitude regarding the use of guard dogs; and if he will require that a licence be held for their use commercially.

(Cavan): I would refer the Deputy to the Minister's replies to Question No. 50 of 10th May, 1973 and Question No. 116 of 28th February, 1974, and supplementaries, on this subject. He has nothing to add to what he said on those occasions.

I take it that the Minister says there will be no change. I gather from the answer to the previous question that the crime rate is on the increase. Is it not time to examine this situation?

(Cavan): I do not follow the relevancy of the supplementary question. I understand that since the Deputy put down a question some considerable time ago there have been no incidents of the nature the Deputy fears.
