Vol. 276 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Qualifications Recognition.

37.

asked the Minister for Justice if any progress has been made in having Irish qualifications for the legal profession recognised by EEC member states.

(Cavan): The Deputy will appreciate that what is involved here is not just the recognition in other EEC member States of Irish legal qualifications but the mutual recognition, throughout the EEC, of legal qualifications of any member state. Under Article 57 of the EEC Treaty action in this respect is initiated by proposals from the Commission. No such proposals have been made so far.
