asked the Minister for Finance the amount of money his Department have spent to maintain public parks in Cork city and county within the last financial year; and how this figure compares with that for other counties.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Public Parks.
131.
Mr. Kenny
During the year ended 31st March, 1974, the following amounts were spent on parks administered by the Office of Public Works:
Cork |
£15,000 |
Dublin |
£256,000 |
Kerry |
£130,000 |
Kilkenny |
£12,000 |
Other Counties |
Nil |
I should like some clarification on this because there seems to be a contradiction between what the Minister and the Parliamentary Secretary have said regarding Fota Island. Is there any possibility that the Office of Public Works may acquire Fota Island and preserve it as a national park?
Mr. Kenny
That is a separate question.
