Following the drawing up of technical specifications for a beef carcase classification scheme experimental work was undertaken on it last year. Certain modifications to the specifications were later introduced in the light of the practical experience gained. However, there was not complete unanimity among the different interests concerned on how best to organise general operation of the scheme.
I would hope to pursue the question of introducing a suitable scheme with the recently reorganised CBF and the other interests concerned early in 1975 when the very heavy beef intervention pressures on staff and on factory activities that developed this year ease off.
