Vol. 278 No. 6

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Public Liability Cover.

17.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the reluctance of insurance companies to provide effective public liability cover for sporting events such as point-to-point race meetings and of the prohibitive terms offered when such liability is accepted; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am not aware that companies are reluctant to provide public liability cover for such sporting events as point-to-point race meetings nor has my Department received any complaints in this regard.

While I cannot compel any insurance company to underwrite a particular risk, if they are brought to my notice I will have my Department look into any cases where difficulty is being experienced.
