Vol. 280 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Park Miniature Trains.

27.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider introducing miniature trains in any of the national parks.

Mr. Kenny

The introduction of miniature trains in national parks may be considered at some future date if it should become necessary to limit the admission of private transport vehicles.

I understand there are parts of the Bourn Vincent Memorial Park that are inaccessible and that this will apply more so in the new park in Donegal unless some form of transport is provided. Has this been considered as a possible way of making the more remote areas accessible?

Mr. Kenny

It has been considered all right but nothing has been done or will be done until such time as we must prohibit private vehicles from going into the parks. As it stands now people can get in and out in their own private vehicles. If they become too numerous something else must be done and this may happen.
