Vol. 281 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Handicapped Children Treatment.

8.

asked the Minister for Health if he approves of the Donan-Delacato programme and treatment for handicapped children; and if he will provide grants for those parents who wish to avail of the treatment and to continue the programme.

I have been advised that it has not been established by authoritative scientific studies that the treatment provided under the Donan-Delacato programme is superior in any significant manner to that provided by the generally accepted methods. In the circumstances I am not prepared to provide grants for parents wishing to avail of the treatment and to continue the programme.
