Proposals to amend the Friendly Societies Act, 1896, as it applies to the operations of specially authorised loan societies are at present being formulated in my Department.
Amending legislation would have to compete for time with other and more urgent matters, but I would hope that it would be possible to have legislation passed within the next year.
