asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants from County Laois still on the waiting list for telephone installation who first applied in (a) 1972 (b) 1973 (c) 1974 and (d) 1975.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide a telephone kiosk at Glenheights, Ballyvolane, Cork.

A kiosk to serve Glenheights and the adjoining Glenthorn estate was provided in May, 1975. Provision of an additional kiosk is not considered to be warranted.

97.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of telephones awaiting installation in the Swinford area, County Mayo; and the average length between the time of application for and the installation of telephones.

(a) 60; (b) an average figure is not readily available in the precise form requested. The average period applicants on the waiting list on 31st December last were waiting for service was about 12 months.

98.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange for the erection of a public telephone kiosk outside the post office at Urhan, Eyeries P.O., County Cork; and, if so, if he will give an approximate date when work will be carried out.

The call office telephone in the sub-post office at Urhan is not sufficiently used to warrant provision of a telephone kiosk in the area.

99.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when he expects to be in a position to have the Farranfore, County Kerry telephone exchange automated.

The best estimate I can give for the conversion of Farranfore exchange is four to five years. This is based inter alia on an estimate by the Commissioners of Public Works for completion of a new exchange building at Tralee on which conversion of Farranfore is dependent.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide a public telephone kiosk at Kilrane, County Wexford in view of the closing of the post office.

Kiosks are not provided in rural areas such as Kilrane where there is no post office. The former call office telephone there was not extensively used prior to its closure in November, 1968.
