Vol. 288 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Forensic Laboratory.

92.

asked the Minister for Justice if a fully developed and fully staffed forensic laboratory has been established in this country; and, if not, if it is proposed to establish such a facility for the Garda.

A scientist was appointed on 1st December last to carry out forensic work on behalf of the Garda Síochána and since then another scientist has been offered appointment. At present facilities provided by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards are being used but the question of providing separate laboratory facilities is being considered.
