Vol. 289 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Service.

11.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange for the provision of a public telephone kiosk at Highwood, Kilmactranny, County Sligo, as many of the local people are two-and-a-half and three miles away from the nearest telephone.

The costs of providing and maintaining a kiosk at the place in question would, it is considered, far exceed likely receipts. Moreover, kiosks are not provided in rural areas where there is no post office. The erection of a kiosk at Highwood, Kilmactranny, cannot therefore be favourably considered.
